Wood firing workshop

Wood firing workshop

Wood firing workshop

There will be two more fast-fire wood firing workshops this year, August 16/17th and September 13/14th.

Come join me in the Scottish Borders to fire a fast-fire wood kiln. The kiln is a Philosopher style kiln, based off of the newer design developed at Oxford Kilns. The kiln is built from entirely secondhand materials and is fired primarily with waste pallet wood.

The kiln is near Heriot in the Scottish Borders. The course has space for four participants. Bring 15 bisqued and glazed pots to load into the kiln (we'll fit as much in as we can).

Schedule:
- Sunday, pack and fire the kiln, 9am start for a likely 8pm finish
- Monday, unpack kiln, midday - 2pm

On the Sunday there will be hot morning rolls and a soup & sandwich lunch. Fruit, biscuits, tea/coffee & soft drinks throughout day.

Pots will need to be made from a high-firing clay and glazed in an appropriate high-firing glaze. The kiln will reach cone 11 in some places. My own rock and wood ash glazes can be provided at an extra cost.

Kiln site is remote, car sharing to be arranged where possible.

Email me using the contact form or DM me on Instagram @georgeperrypots to secure a spot. Total cost £250. Payment is required to guarantee your space. Refunds are only available if someone suitable is found to take your place.

"George's wood firing course was excellent! The day of firing felt informative, and George's relaxed and knowledgeable approach made the learning environment fun and I felt really open to asking questions and getting stuck in to the whole process. I left the course feeling confident and really keen to keep on the journey of learning how to wood fire!"
